2009 Foals Arriving!!

Click here to read the featured article published by the Appaloosa Journal that was recently written about us, our operation and our move to Australia

Theo is having a busy breeding season in 2009 in Australia and is the proud sire of his first two foals -both beautiful fillies. Theo sired a fantastic blanketed bay filly out of multiple national champion and high point AQHA mare Yulgilbar Elegant Chick and a gorgeous tall sorrel filly with characteristics out of RQH Sheza Princess (AQHA mare). Foals by Theo out of Cool Storm Kate  AQHA (an own daughter of I'm A Cool Seeker AQHA Imp) and RQH Isle Be Chick (AQHA champion mare) and Mi Daddy's Cool AQHA are expected now any day! We can't wait to see what he produces with Appaloosa mares this year.........

The Weston Family - taken just after New Years in Southern Australia

News from Australia. Happy New Year to all of our clients and colleagues in the horse industry. Although 2008 has brought us many challenges, it has also brought us much to be thankful for too. We are now happily installed in our home in Coolamon NSW Australia and are enjoying ourjobs at Charles Sturt University. Both Paul and Leslie are working in various aspects of plant production and IPM in Australian cropping systems. We plan to continue our breeding operation of Appaloosa performance horses in Australia, and on a much more limited scale, with our mare's co-owners in the United States. Thankfully, we have successfully imported Time to Be Radical and he has completed an extremely successful first breeding season with Kyle and Kristy Mobberley, near Shepparton Victoria. Kristy has planned to show Theo in all the major junior western pleasure events sponsored by NSBA and AAA as well as regional clubs across Australia. He is moving beautifully and looks to be in top shape with Kristy and Kyle in the saddle. Although it has been so difficult to part with our beloved mares and show horses, we have placed all of them in top show homes in the US and Canada. We are so happy we could find them all such fantastic homes and look forward to hearing more about their accomplishments under saddle and in the broodmare pen. Now that we have settled in the Riverina region, we have recently purchased a very pretty red roan Appaloosa mare to show and breed in western pleasure and performance events. Her name is Middle L Tex Me and she is sired by Chip's Texas Star (imp. AQHA stallion sired by our favorite producing stallion Zip's Chocolate Chip). We were lucky to find this talented young mare and we would like to thank Debbie Pearson for parting with her. We plan to show her in 2009 events here in Australia as she is truly a pleasure to ride. She will produce some great riders for us in the future we think. We are also expecting some incredible foals in 2009; in the US both top winning mares There You'll Be and World Champion Butterscotch Cooky are in foal to Impulsive Zipper. In Australia, we are expecting several foals from Theo at Rose Quarter Horses in Mooroopa Victoria, representing the finest in AQHA performance bloodlines. Although Nicole will be coming back to Australia after graduation in the US, she is currently back in Trumansburg NY to complete high school.

Please contact us at our new address in 282 Millwood Road, Coolamon NSW 2701 Australia.
You can ring us at 61-4-17-29-3262 or in the US through Nicole at 607-280-4673 or email at leslieweston20@gmail.com

Our ultimate goal is to produce and stand versatile horses with the best of quarter horse and Appaloosa breeding to produce athletic willing foals that can excel in the show ring, partly because of their wonderful dispositions. We keep hearing that from our trainers.....our horses are more like dogs than horses.........but they love kids and love to be ridden. We have been in this about 10 years from a breeding perspective and 5 very seriously (more than 1 foal/year). Our horses are now reaching riding ages so they are starting to rack up points now for us. We want to breed a pretty athlete with fantastic disposition and when we see 10 of our horses out there, it is great to see Mark with Irish Impulse winning it all and setting records and Zip to Conclusions wins for a youth, leading the nation in novice youth pleasure is really where we get goosebumps. The young girl in Michigan who trained Zip's Touch of Class herself and her first world show won high point novice non-pro horse. The horse was a gift from her dad when she graduated from college. We have a lot of those stories now.

Cayuga Ridge Kennel - We also raise and show American Cocker Spaniels and Wire Haired Dachshunds in conformation, obedience and field events. We have raised over 20 cocker conformation champions and just in the last year have developed a great interest in wire hair dachshunds for hunting, tracking and obedience.
